VidConvert keeps it simple and does exactly what you want it to. It updates you with the status and you can load a ton of files into the drag and drop window. It is clear how to use and is quick as well! Definitely worth the purchase.

Short story, it works. As the title says, I grabbed this while it was on TwoDollarTuesday for $1.99, which is rather cheap. As my first few tests worked with no issues at all, Id definately have to say so far this is a great app. No complaints from me. Ill follow up with this review after a week or so of using it. (if I remember) Suggestion: After using this a few times, Id like an option to auto covert when added to speed up the overall experience.
Reggie Ashworth gave me this app free as a courtesy and good customer service back in June 2012, I had trouble paying for it online with my credit card. I just noticed that its on the App Store this morning, so I decided to buy it to install on another computer as a repayment of his earlier gift. Thanks Reggie! This is a great app and I highly recommend it. If I could give it more stars I would, and at 2 bucks, youre stealing it - its worth much more. Ive bought almost every app out there that touts simple and seamless video conversions, but always ran in to issues with them. For the first time, this app works as advertised. Its simple, converts virtually any video format to pretty much any format you want. It does it fast, it does it in HUGE batches, it does it without crashing and without errors. I batch converted hundreds of video files to play on my Apple TV using an old Mac Mini with 1GB of RAM, it had no difficulty processing the long list of videos I threw at it. By far the best conversion app Ive ever used and I HIGHLY recommend it. Kudos to Reggie on a job well done. Oh, incidentally, I also own App Delete (not the Lite version on the Apple Store which differs a fair bit from the full version) which is also a great app, been using it for years.
Does what it says. Converted my .avi and .wma files like a breeze
Love this program and use regularly to convert videos to my Plex folder to play on my new Apple TV. Great Quality and never had any problems and have converted many video files.
I’ve been putting VidConvert through its paces to convert several dozen MOV files into various formats for web delivery. It’s been completely stable, with a simple, clear, and nice-looking interface … the first non-kludgy experience I’ve had with any of the many video conversion apps I’ve used. As a really big bonus, when I ran into a technical glitch with one set of conversions, I contacted the developer and he was VERY quick to respond and VERY helpful, all the way from initial contact to follow-up on my issue. I highly recommend VidConvert. The workflow is clear and simple, the interface pleasant and easy to use, and the resulting converted videos are of good quality.
Nice upgrade and its OSX Mountain Lion Ready!
im no expert, and i got this cos it was one of the cheaper options. tried it out and it worked quickly, easily and well. liked the output quality on the high setting. seems to be good for its price, see no negatives so would say get it.
In terms of functionality, design, simplicity and support. This app blows away all the other competition for sure. The easy to use bottom buttons will give you a quick conversion, even for extracting audio from a video clip or converting one type of audio to another. For more advanced users, there – of course - are more advanced options that can be tweaks. In terms of design, VidConvert has a sleak look that merges well with OS X, unlike others with their own custom (and most of the time, ugly) UI. Also, the developer, Reggie Ashwork, is always readily available and quick to help with any problems you encounter. By far the greatest app of all time. Its going to be tough to find another favourite.
Ive been using VidConvert for a few years and its wonderful. I decided to buy it again in the Mac App Store to show my support for Reggie Ashworth, the developer. Hes one of the most responsive and helpful developers Ive worked with. For example, we were trying to transcode a file that wed pulled from a blu-ray disk, and it was 9GB. Every test encode would take forever, so I asked Reggies advice on the right settings to try and squash it down to iPad size. I got instructions from him but he also pointed out that you can do just a small bit of the file to test whether its going to look good before wasting an hour waiting for the whole thing to encode. Ive used VidConvert to take old AVI files from point and shoot cameras (that are huge) to shrink them down and VidConvert did a bang up job - and I would swear the videos looked BETTER after encoding. Dont see how that can be true but it sure looks like it to me!
I have tried several products that convert video, but this is the fastest, easiest to use (not to mention cheapest!) method I have found. Great app!
In a rush to fix someones screw-up, so I bought this to convert it to MPEG-2. This program doesnt accept .m2v files as source!
Just bought this app. Bad: Not possible to choose audio track from input (mkv) file, if there are many audio tracks inside (by the way it is also not possible in most of other converters here). Good: There is a crop/resize picture option and quality tunings! (Usually there is no such options in most converters here). PS: "Free Video Conveter" here able to choose audio track, but I decided to continue using Handbrake (its not from the Store), which is real swiss knife.
Can convert from all formats I have tried, including FLV (Flash Video streams). Very simple interface, but you can configure it to do whatever kind of conversion you need. I had a question and the developer got right back to me with an informative answer.
It does what it says it does. This is a dead simple, easy app to use when needing to convert video formats. No problems and far, far quicker than I expected. Really nice work!
Nice app, it does what is promised, but one specific feature can be added in a future upgrade: possibility to include srt subtitles files, so the converted video is already with the subtitles! at leas, I did not find this options so far!
very good software very quick and easy 2 use makes movie audio a lot better than original just just missing that audio 640kbps bit rate and it would be perfect maybe on the next update :)
Video conversion quality has been very good. The only negative I see with this app is the inability to store a default “destination” drive as a preference, so it has to be selected on opening up the app each time. Otherwise it is a simple app to use and VERY QUICK in converting movie length clips!
The new version adds support for 32 kbps audio conversion, and it works perfectly on Yosemite. I will recommend it as a killer app.
I’ve had this app a long time and just used it the first time to convert a video so it was iPad compatible. It worked great and did the job in 8 minutes versus the 1 hr 20 minutes that handbrake was going to take (both on default settings). I don’t convert a lot of videos but I’m glad to have this in my utilities. I’ve also noticed that the developer has had regular updates so it’s good to know they are actively involved with keeping it current.
